Animated Author/Tragic Hero Project

Many animations begin as drawings or sketches and then are set to motion through the tools of animation software. In this project you will trace an image of an author/tragic hero from a photograph and animate certain areas of the drawing. Then trace a scene to appear in the background as that fit your target audience.
For this project, think of someone from the 21st century who can be considered a modern day tragic hero. This person can be a political figure, a pop culture icon, an athlete, or a film/television star that fits the qualities of the tragic hero archetype. Your choice should ideally meet at least 5 of the 6 criteria established by Aristotle.
The size for this project is 720 width x 480 height in pixels. Import your photo to Library and move onto the stage. Copy the layers that do not animate to 60 frames, and animate the parts that move, every 5 frames or more over 60 total frames. Remember to delete the photo after you have traced and filled in each part. Use dafont.com to find a font for your name that is creative and describes your author. There is a PDF tutorial located to the right to help you complete this project, and it is very important that you follow it step by step for this project.
As you work, save your project as a .fla and name it lastname + first initial + hero.fla. When you are finished, export it as a .SWF file with the same name (ex: pettywhero.SWF). When you have created the SWF, go to Finder and right click the file to Compress to a .ZIP file (ex: pettywhero.zip). Submit the .ZIP folder using the form below. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements!
