Audio books, novels, and text books are becoming more and more common in today's society. They can be used for entertainment for long trips or car rides or for educational purposes. They are also used for the visually impaired and have become an important tool in modern education and entertainment.
In this project, you will create a small piece of an audio book by creating an audio narrative. Use Audition to create a project where you will record yourself reading a passage from Night. The passage should be at least one full page in length. In addition, you should include background music and, if appropriate, sound effects. It is crucial that you identify the tone and the mood of the passage in order to successfully convey the author’s message to your audience. Tips:
Choose a passage that is meaningful to you in some way.
Read the passage through a few times identifying both the tone (author’s attitude) and the mood (the feeling created for the reader).
Practice reading the passage aloud paying special attention to words that need to be emphasized and voice inflection.
Choose music that enhances the mood of the passage.
Make sure your background music is fitting of the target audience and that your audio levels are balanced so that the background music and sound effects do not overpower your voice over.
Your voice over must be read with inflection and emotion. You can create the background music using multiple tracks or use one of the jingles as your background track. You can use multiple sound effects as long as it is not distracting. You can use sound effects from Audition or you can find sound effects on-line to use as well.
As you work, save your project as an Audition project file (.SESX) and name it last name +first initial + abook. When you are finished, export it using Export>Multitrack Mixdown>Entire Session menu and choose the .MP3 encoder and name the output file the same name (ex: pettywabook.MP3) Submit the .MP3 file using the form on the right. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements!
